Tana instantly fell in love with the marriage dresses as soon on, designer Johana Hernandez, told ET over the phone a day after the nuptials as she tried them. She then switched to a wonderful ruffled Cindy ball gown that featured a white corset-style top with sweetheart neckline and a voluminous pink ombre skirt.
Now, Hernandez is sharing with ET details of how she and Tana created her perfect big day looks, just how long it took to produce the dresses and much more!
Entertainment Tonight: Did Tana reach out to you to definitely design the dresses?
Johana Hernandez: The dresses are from my current collections. The pink ombre gown, Cindy, was designed for my Paris Fashion Week show and then the other Veronica gown I had during my other collection, and she loved them. I did not even have to generate something new because she was obsessed with them. Tana is clearly the first bride that has ever worn the pink ombre dress, to ensure that was something exclusive to her. I worked with her stylist named Tyler Lambert and then she came over to my store and she just loved everything. I altered it to her body, because all our dresses are made with the bride’s measurements when she chose the dress.
Did Tana make any special requests, ask for changes for the dresses — or did she stick with the designs that are original?
No, she stuck using the original designs and I believed that was beautiful because usually brides are really specific, especially a celebrity bride, they want to have details that are certain. Tana was very confident about herself. She loved everything. Literally, we tried from the the first dress, then a moment dress and that was it. She didn’t try other things. She just loved everything and it was so great. She was very easy to work well with and I also loved that she liked to be extra. She just desired to shine and she likes shiny and sparkles, that is why the first dress was ideal for her. It was still sparkly but elegant in the same time. It was form-fitting together with lace onto it too.
Personally I think like she would have looked like every other bride and she didn’t — and I think that’s why everyone loves it if she would have been safe. She actually is young therefore it goes along with her age. She was made by me dresses form-fitted because she is curvy, she is busty. She wanted her butt to check great, and so I did that from the first dress.
Did she always want two dresses?
No, it just came up because she loved them so much that she couldn’t make her mind up, so she chose two. And it actually turned out to be along with theme that she wanted, that has been a color that is blush.
The engagement was only per month long, how time that is much you need to produce the dresses?
It absolutely was an extremely short time. The good thing was because i had to rush the current designs that she loved the collection so I was able to rush it. It wasn’t me, that was great because as a designer it’s a huge compliment for the client and the brides to love what you do like I was making something that was completely new and, to. I also do custom-made dresses, but I think when they love everything you do it’s just very rewarding.
Just how long was the method through the consultation that is first the wedding?
I can’t really share that since it was so fast. What I can share is the fact that each dress takes about three to 6 months to make. To ensure is exactly what was great, that she chose something which had been from the collection after which everything is hand made.
How many dress fittings did she have?
Only one. Right on the dot. Just one and she just loved it. I already knew the things I was going to do. I am doing this for a very time that is long. She was seen by you pictures, her dress was very on point, nothing was wrong together with them. It had been just great, and her stylist Tyler was very helpful. He is been working because he already knew her style and knew that I was the right fit for them with her for a very long time and that helped.
Did some of her family or friends go to the fittings?
It had been just Tyler additionally the assistant. Her schedule is extremely busy and hectic. And so I closed the shop she came in very early in the morning for her and. She was so kind, grateful and excited.
Did Jake, her fiance, have any say inside her decision making?
It absolutely was just her. Of course, he is not planning to see anything prior to the wedding.
How did she react when she tried the dresses that are final?
It was loved by her! She was like, ‘I can not believe it!’ She was so happy. Into the pictures whenever we’re in both the fitting room, clearly that dress was so big though it wasn’t fitted on her around the waist and she was already so happy even. I loved beside what it is that she was a visionary, she sees it. Some brides can not picture the last dress on it without it being perfectly fitted, in order that’s why they don’t really choose a dress and go back and forth until it is perfect. And also you can not have it perfect until it is ordered by you.
Are there any hidden personal items added into the dresses?
All my dresses have inside corsets and bras, so they snatch your waist. The ball that is big have an inside petticoat, so she was super comfortable walking even though the dress is super extra from the outside. Everything is corset fitted.
What materials were used on both dresses?
On the ruffled one, that is English mesh and was hand dyed to be ombre and also the ruffles are sewn and made by hand, so that it takes months to complete all that work. The fabric doesn’t come like this, you need to create it by dyeing it colors that are different. And for the Veronica gown, it had been a mesh with shimmer with beards and pearls on it and we had an Italian embroidery that goes on top of it. Her veil was also ours. Her veil had Swarovski crystals it was a really beautiful lace on it and.
Did Tana have a vision for her dresses or a look she was going for?
No, she really trusted me and trusted her stylist and went utilizing the flow. She really loved it and there is never any doubt in her mind that people were not the dresses. She was clear on them. Her bride story is amazing and she looked so good and fresh.
Due to the fact designer, that which was your inspiration when designing these two dresses?
For me, personally i think like my brides are young and fun, but she’s still sexy. For Tana, the dress that is first for a girl who aren’t afraid to shine, literally. She has her own style that is personal isn’t afraid to state her personality through her wardrobe, and I believe that’s really necessary for your wedding day. It is important for her to feel like herself and therefore she actually is not a cookie-cutter bride. She’s Tana, she is her.
The pink one, it’s just fun and different. The same russian brides for marriage in india, she actually is bold but she actually is soft — and at the same time it is sexy since it gets the perfect level of cleavage and has an excellent exaggerated train. I am just inspired by that girl who is not afraid to shine inside and out.
Hernandez will likely to be presenting her next collection Sept. 29 at the Ritz Carlton in Paris, France, for Paris Fashion Week.
